Thanks for all this advice, it's really useful. I have considered the 1.9 Polo but my local VW garage (non-franchise) warned me that a cambelt change is seriously expensive since the engine has to be dropped. Presumably this applies to the Ibiza as well since it's basically the same car. The smaller 1.4 TDi engine would not have this problem. One day driving back home a yellow "Low oil" light comes up, yes I need to fill it up. 2 km from home, with the light on I drive home, park. Having limp mode, I thought maybe just a sensor thing, so when I parked and turned the car off, I tried restarting the car, but it screamed low oil and refused.
